Today is the first time I have touched or seen first hand a computer which is faster then mine.
I set up a new database server for FHA.

Stats:
2x Quad-Core AMD Opteron 8384 (That's 8 cores at 2700MHz)
4GB Ram (Limited by Win32)
6 300Gb 15K rpm hard drives in a raid 10 array.

My computer's stats:
2x Dual-Core AMD Opteron 8212 (That's 4 cores at 2000MHz)
4GB Ram
4 250Gb 10K rpm hard drives in a raid 10 array

Although I can upgrade my computer to:
4x Quad-Core (16 cores!) at 64GB of ram
or with an additional daughter card:
8x Quad-Core (32 cores!!!) at 128GB of ram

...With a Vengence!

I just removed a tree that had fallen across 408/Challenger Parkway Right here with my Truck! It was awesome. 20 some odd cars had gotten up to that point and turned around, except a car, a truck, and a UCF Shuttle that had tried to go across the median and gotten stuck because the sod there is fresh because of recent construction. I come up to the tree and get out to check the height of it's trunk. Yep, my Push Bumper is low enough. So I put it in 4WD and first gear, which I rarely use, and with no effort the tree moved until it broke in half. Then me and the guy in the car behind me carried it out of the road. The tree was coming out of the forest, across both lanes, and halfway though the median. It was awesome. Except not a good day to wear my Zanella pants as it was pouring, muddy, and I was lifting trees for goodness sake.

I had to change the layout of my journal because with a static background (one that doesn't move when you scroll) showed noticeable lag whilst scrolling.

Prolog

Prolog is fun! I wrote a SSudoku solver in it. It solves 5x5 puzzles in under 1ms on my laptop.

You can get GNU prolog which I use or SWI prolog which is also GPL but i hear it works on windows better.

To run my program save it to your computer, run gprolog and type:

[suk2].
try1(L).
try2(L).

To solve a puzzle you would run this:

[suk2].
board( normal, L,
X00, X01, X02, X03, X04,
X10, X11, X12, X13, X14,
X20, X21, X22, X23, X24,
X30, X31, X32, X33, X34,
X40, X41, X42, X43, X44,
[X00,X10,X20,X30,X21,X31],
[X01,X02,X03,X04,X13,X14],
[X11,X12,X22,X32,X42,X41],
[X23,X33,X43,X24,X34,X44]).

The last 4 lines declare the colored regions, after you have assigned all the cells except one to the regions, change the given cells to be their value. ie, if B is given at (2,4) you would change every X24 to be 2 (a=1, b=2...)

So, genericbob, your LiveJournal reveals...

You are... 2% unique
(blame, for example, your interest in necro waffers)
and 29% herdlike
(partly because you, like everyone else, enjoy sushi).
When it comes to friends you are normal. In terms of the way you relate to people, you are wary of trusting strangers.

Your writing style (based on a recent public entry) is intellectual.

Your overall weirdness is: 14

(The average level of weirdness is: 27.
You are weirder than 25% of other LJers.)

I have been playing alot on Conquer Club. A greasemonkey script by Tr0y is very helpful.
I just modified it alot. It now calculates bonuses based on who has which continents. It works with any map by downloading the map XML definition on the fly. Next up, attack probabilities.
a little example from one of my games.

Today I saw a sight sure to scare anyone who has been on campus.
I walked past a vending machine, and on top of this seemingly innocent vending machine was a squirrel. This squirrel was not just standing 6 feet off the ground, it also was maniacally chewing on something. Upon closer inspection i came to realize just on what that evil squirrel was masticating. The horror! Bone! A squirrel chewing on a section of bone from a large, possibly human, animal; It chilled me to the core.
